Webuild Staffing (https://www.webuildstaffing.com/) is seeking an experienced Senior Design Engineer, PE to join and help grow a high-performing geotechnical and foundation engineering operation based in Orlando, Florida.
This is a high-impact, leadership-oriented position for a hands-on professional engineer who excels in complex technical design while also contributing to estimating, proposals, and business growth. The selected engineer will play a critical role in expanding the local practice, delivering technically sound solutions, supporting profitable project execution, and helping establish a sustainable, market-leading presence in Central Florida.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Design
You will lead the engineering design of complex geotechnical and structural systems, including permanent and temporary retaining walls (soil nail, tieback, sheet pile, soldier pile, secant and tangent pile systems), mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) walls, temporary shoring systems, deep foundations, micropiles, and ground improvement solutions. Your responsibilities will include performing advanced geotechnical analyses, structural and stability calculations, seismic evaluations, and value engineering to deliver efficient, constructible designs. You will prepare, review, and seal engineering calculations, drawings, technical reports, and specifications in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
You will coordinate closely with third-party geotechnical consultants, owners, contractors, and inspectors throughout the design and construction phases. During construction, you will provide technical support, respond to RFIs, attend site meetings as needed, and assist with field troubleshooting to ensure successful project execution.
Estimating, Proposals & Business Growth
In addition to technical responsibilities, you will support estimating and proposal development efforts, including reviewing bid documents, developing engineering approaches, supporting pricing strategies, and contributing to pursuit decisions. You will assist in maintaining bidder lists, identifying new opportunities, and helping grow revenue while controlling costs and maintaining profitability targets. This role offers meaningful exposure to client development and branch-level performance, with the opportunity to influence long-term growth strategy.
Team Development & Leadership
You will mentor and help develop a growing team of engineers, CAD designers, and estimators, providing technical guidance, quality control, and professional development support. As the Orlando operation expands, you will play an integral role in shaping team structure, workflows, and best practices.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering and maintain an active Florida Professional Engineer (PE) license in good standing. Candidates should bring 5+ years of progressive experience in geotechnical engineering, foundation design, retaining wall systems, or specialty construction support, with demonstrated involvement in both design and construction phases.
Strong technical proficiency with MSE walls, shored excavations, and FDOT-related work is essential, along with hands-on experience using industry-standard design and analysis software such as Shoring Suite, DeepExcavation, DeepFDN, MSEW, ReSSA, Slide, LPILE, GROUP, and AutoCAD. Candidates must also demonstrate strong business acumen, with experience supporting estimating, bidding, and client-facing activities.
Preference will be given to candidates with experience in a contractor or design-build environment, as well as those who bring established relationships with FDOT contractors, Central Florida developers, engineering consultants, or general contractors. Prior involvement in branch growth, market expansion, or operational leadership is a strong plus.
Why This Opportunity is Compelling
This role offers a rare opportunity to combine advanced technical engineering with business leadership and growth influence in a dynamic and expanding market. You will have the autonomy to make meaningful decisions, the resources to build a successful operation, and the support of a respected organization focused on technical excellence and profitability. For the right engineer, this position provides a clear path to long-term leadership, increased responsibility, and the ability to leave a lasting impact on both projects and the organization’s presence in Central Florida.
Confidential Application Process
Qualified Professional Engineers are encouraged to submit their applications confidentially. All inquiries and candidate information will be handled with the strictest discretion.
