The role offers stability, leadership responsibility, and the opportunity to work with a company that values experience, craftsmanship, and long-term career growth.

This position is ideal for a seasoned professional with a proven track record in UST operations / Gasoline Equipment Installation, who takes pride in quality workmanship, enjoys mentoring crews, and seeks a respected and stable work environment rather than a short-term, high-travel assignment.

Key Responsibilities

Field Leadership & Execution

  • Serve as the on-site working foreman, leading all phases of UST installation and related site development.
  • Direct and coordinate field crews, subcontractors, and equipment operators to maintain productivity and project milestones.
  • Oversee excavation, tank setting, backfill, anchoring, and system start-up activities, ensuring work is completed safely and efficiently.
  • Ensure petroleum piping systems are installed in accordance with manufacturer specifications, engineering plans, and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain daily production schedules and monitor progress to meet project goals.

Technical Expertise

  • Lead the installation of fiberglass and steel USTs, as well as knowledge of removal and closure activities.
  • Oversee petroleum product and vapor recovery piping systems, secondary containment systems, and tank testing/commissioning.
  • Interpret and implement project drawings, specifications, and engineered site plans.
  • Troubleshoot field challenges and implement practical, code-compliant solutions.

Compliance & Regulatory Coordination

  • Maintain full compliance with all federal, state, and local UST regulations.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with inspectors and regulatory agencies during installation, inspection, and closure activities.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of project documentation, including permits, testing records, inspection reports, and compliance forms.
  • Enforce OSHA safety standards and jobsite safety protocols at all times.

Quality Control & Workmanship

  • Uphold high standards of workmanship, professional conduct, and jobsite appearance.
  • Conduct internal inspections to verify proper bedding, compaction, anchoring, piping slopes, tank alignment, and system functionality before official regulatory inspections.
  • Protect the company’s reputation through consistent, code-compliant installations that reflect technical expertise and professionalism.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • 8+ years of direct UST installation and management experience.
  • Proven leadership experience as a Foreman, Superintendent, or Senior Field Lead.
  • Extensive knowledge of petroleum piping systems, fuel system components, and secondary containment solutions.
  • Strong understanding of UST compliance requirements, inspection processes, and regulatory standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, site plans, and engineered specifications.
  • OSHA certification (preferred).
  • CDL (preferred but not required).
  • Willingness to relocate to the Chattanooga, TN area (Relocation Assistance Can Be Provided).

Ideal Candidate Traits:

  • Hands-on leader who works alongside the crew.
  • Comfortable interacting directly with inspectors, clients, and project stakeholders.
  • Takes pride in craftsmanship, safety, and jobsite cleanliness.
  • Values long-term stability, company loyalty, and building a sustainable career.
  • Motivated by completing high-quality, code-compliant projects rather than short-term, high-travel assignments.

Why This Opportunity is Compelling

This role offers a rare chance to take a leadership position in a respected, long-term oriented UST company. You will manage and mentor field crews, oversee technically complex projects, and be recognized for your expertise and leadership. The company is committed to quality, compliance, and craftsmanship, offering a supportive work environment and the stability that experienced UST professionals seek after years in high-turnover or heavily traveling corporate roles.

This position provides a consistent regional footprint, the opportunity to influence projects from start to finish, and the ability to build a lasting career with a company that values your experience and leadership.

Confidential Application Process

Qualified UST professionals are encouraged to submit their applications confidentially. All inquiries and candidate information will be handled with the strictest discretion.
