Fire Sprinkler Designer

Webuild Staffing is actively seeking a highly experienced Fire Sprinkler Designer to support a growing fire protection and life safety engineering organization. This is a opportunity designed for a seasoned design professional with deep technical expertise in fire sprinkler system design, strong code knowledge, and the ability to manage complex projects across multiple sectors.

This role requires more than drafting proficiency. The ideal candidate will bring a comprehensive understanding of fire protection systems, demonstrate the ability to independently lead design efforts, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and ensure full compliance with NFPA standards and local AHJ requirements.

Key Responsibilities

The Fire Sprinkler Designer will lead the design and layout of fire sprinkler systems for a diverse portfolio of projects including multifamily residential, commercial, and industrial developments. Responsibilities include preparing detailed design drawings using AutoSPRINK, performing hydraulic calculations, and developing system layouts that align with applicable NFPA codes and project specifications.

This individual will coordinate closely with project managers, engineers, contractors, and clients to ensure design accuracy, constructability, and timely project delivery. The role may also includes reviewing plans, responding to RFIs, supporting permitting and approvals, and providing technical guidance throughout installation and project execution phases.

The designer will be expected to manage multiple projects concurrently, maintain high-quality standards, and proactively identify design challenges and solutions that optimize performance, cost-efficiency, and compliance.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate brings 10+ years of progressive experience in fire sprinkler system design within fire protection contracting or consulting environments. Knowledge of NICET Level III or IV (National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies) for Water-Based Systems Layout is required.

Candidates must demonstrate advanced proficiency with AutoSPRINK and HydraCAD and a strong working knowledge of NFPA standards including NFPA 13, 13R, and 13D, as well as local and state fire codes. Experience designing systems across a wide range of project types including multifamily housing, commercial buildings, and industrial facilities is essential.

The successful candidate will possess strong technical problem-solving abilities, excellent communication skills (Bilingual is a plus), and the capacity to work both independently and collaboratively in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments.
